Brush Creek Elementary and Madison Middle School

The stormwater improvements at the two schools included stream stabilization, rain garden, vegetative plantings, stormwater detention, and wetland creation. MWLA was part of the design team with Blue Earth.

Coleman Street Residence

This landscape renovation included a new patio, stone seat wall, stone bridge, screening along the property line, fencing, and planting plan.

Leicester Residence

Clients had a steep slope below a newly constructed house. I proposed doing a meadow planting and they have been thrilled with the results and enjoy watching all of the birds and butterflies that visit.

Redwood Commons

An Ohio-based nonprofit is proposing to build 70 affordable senior living apartments near Swannanoa River Road. As part of the design team, I developed the landscape plan to fulfill the City of Asheville landscape ordinance and participated in rezoning request meetings. First Presbyterian Church

The landscape renovation included a planting design for the front and side of the church to create a more welcoming and visually pleasing entrance.

Sandy Mush Community Center

The community center is in an old school building which has been repurposed for community use. The building was not accessible, so the master plan was created to reroute vehicular traffic and pedestrian flow to create an accessible route into the building and add landscape amenities such as a picnic shelter, walking paths, and trees.

Bacoate Branch/Town Branch Greenway

Design team member focusing on an invasive plant removal plan and new native plantings along the future greenway and at the trailheads. A linear bioretention area will be built along the Town Branch greenway to capture stormwater from the adjacent impervious pavement. The planting plan for the bioretention area featuring a wide variety of native wetland and upland plants.

Ardmion Park Residence

The primary goal for this landscape was to create a wildlife attracting landscape including a meadow on a steep slope to attract birds and butterflies and reduce maintenance. Plan also included new a small greenhouse, raised beds, plantings, and a new parking area

Ashley Woods Residence

The clients wanted to redevelop their front and back yards to create more usable space and play areas for their young family. Extensive use of dry stack stone walls and boulder walls were used to create terraces and allow the installation of a swimming pool. Plan also included stone patio with hot tub, stone steps in both front and back yard, and native plantings throughout the site for screening and aesthetic improvement.

Montford Residence

This small urban site in a historic district was transformed with the addition of an outdoor kitchen and pergola, stone patio and pathway, small water feature, raised stone planter, and native plants and a cutting garden.
